I'd figure it would be easy to target Linkedin spam to the alumni, since the schools are in the same profile where they get the workplace. Instead they wrap their requests into invites to connect, get bounced and I don't know if this still a thing but Linkedin used to throttle your ability to send invites if you get enough rejections... But thanks for explaining, I used to be completely mystified by this behavior.
