The Internet as we know it will mostly cease to exist. It will be replaced by AI powered sites, AI powered routing, and AI powered networks.
AI models combined with AI-tuned storage will eventually become intelligent proxies to the network. Run in "ensembles", some will run at the edge and won't require access to provide basic information and reference. They will act as "the Internet", for all practical purposes.
More complex tasks will kick inference to larger models elsewhere on the various networks (also made of other models).
- barrysteve 3y agoWhile humans can't understand what's going on in LLM's, it would be logical to say mission critical equipment won't be replaced..
- eureka-belief 3y agoThis seems only possible to the extent that you can cut human content creators out of the loop. At some point, the models will need to be trained on something. That something is the words of actual intelligent people who are saying things that existing models aren’t intelligent enough to write. So ultimately unless you’re content with being a consumer of the LLM regurgitation content cesspool, then you’ll just need to find those trusted intelligent people and subscribe to their content, probably via something extraordinarily simple such as RSS.
- kordlessagain 3y agoI would imagine content will still be a thing, likely handled by the AI crawler I wrote. I would imagine, at some point, automated content will need to shift over to pay-for-access or publicly funded repositories. Or alternately, models trained on such repositories backed by a document storage layer.
