I see comments saying this is nonsensical, but most of this seems plausible. Like, as a former number theorist, this paragraph would also describe my guess as to what the prompt meant:
So, when talking about the "adelic representations of quantum groups," you're likely referring to a framework that seeks to describe the action of quantum groups in terms of the adeles (or ideles). This would be a way to unify and generalize certain aspects of the representation theory of quantum groups, making use of the rich structure of the adeles.
Admittedly, I don’t know what the “tautological action” might be, as I’m not super knowledgeable about quantum groups. But, that notion wasn’t even introduced by ChatGPT, it was introduced in the prompt.
- klyrs 3y agoIt's been decades since I looked at any representation theory... but I found a nice* description of the tautological action at https://math.berkeley.edu/~teleman/math/RepThry.pdf https://math.berkeley.edu/~teleman/math/RepThry.pdf * if you grok mathematical notation
- kevinventullo 3y agoOkay, yeah I’m aware of a “tautological action” where the very definition of the group is in terms of an action on some space (like say GLn), but as far as I know, quantum groups are not defined as some set of transformations of the adeles.
- klyrs 3y agoYeah, I've got nothing. On the other hand, I'm not into putting effort into understanding the output of stochastic parrots.
- kevinventullo 3y agoMe neither, but this notion was introduced by the prompt writer, not the chatbot.
