Pyrolysis can be used to turn waste plastic into a ~50/50 mix of diesel and syngas, that can in turn be converted back into propylene through a FT and hydroformylation process. But cracking waste naphtha is about a tenth the cost and externalities are paid by those schmucks in the future.
