Reminder that in TeX you want to escape functions so they aren't rendered in italics as a product of separate variables, i.e. "\log" not "log"

  And `\operator{name}` if `name` isn't already a defined operator macro. Or `\DeclareMathOperator{\name}{value}` to declare a new operator.
