I don't have the feeling the wave of VR has died out. There are more headsets then ever. In fact Apple is coming out with a VR headset.

- T-A 3y agoAnd it's a full AR/VR system (pardon me, "spatial computer"), not just a monitor, starting at $3,499. That price tag caused universal consternation when Apple revealed it back in June. Now Lenovo unveils a 3D monitor for $2,999 and... not a peep?

- zamadatix 3y agoThe current wave definitely lost steam lately https://www.cnbc.com/2022/12/28/metaverse-off-to-ominous-start-after-vr-headset-sales-shrank-in-2022.html https://www.cnbc.com/2022/12/28/metaverse-off-to-ominous-sta... and if Apple's entry with with Vision line in 2024 manages to kickoff of another growth phase (which likely wouldn't actually happen until a year or two after that launch even if it were going to happen) I would be surprised if it wasn't viewed as a completely separate wave of VR from the ~2015 era. I could well end up wrong but to me (if it happens to take off) it'd be like the iPhone successfully defining the smartphone and changing sales volumes but people saying it's all just been the same wave of portable phones from a decade prior.
