It is foolish to measure the usefulness of bike lanes or bus lanes by idle time. I see lots of people make this same mistake. These transportation methods are inherently more space efficient than personal vehicles. Also, as a cyclist, I’d much rather be in a separated bike lane as opposed to directly behind a car and breathing in fumes there.
