The Glitch Gallery
- yantrams 3y agoI was gonna submit to the gallery until I realized they are looking for unintentional/accidental ones. Links to a couple of my creations/generations Made with Processing - https://twitter.com/Pfatagaga/status/1697919529945555280 https://twitter.com/Pfatagaga/status/1697919529945555280 Made with Diffusers - https://twitter.com/Pfatagaga/status/1696091383361327493 https://twitter.com/Pfatagaga/status/1696091383361327493 https://twitter.com/Pfatagaga/status/1696092107545759791/photo/1 https://twitter.com/Pfatagaga/status/1696092107545759791/pho...
- gabereiser 3y agoHN hug of death? I don’t see any images.
- kristopolous 3y agoThis is pretty good. I've got a 40-year-old graphics book by melvin prueitt which has a beautiful chapter with a gallery dedicated to rendering errors https://archive.org/details/artcomputer00prue/page/185/mode/1up https://archive.org/details/artcomputer00prue/page/185/mode/... I guess you can't deep link to a non checked out book any more. Well, look and then return it I guess
- desi_ninja 3y agoI like these kind of old school websites with quirky information
- rwmj 3y agoWhen I was experimenting with OpenGL the most common glitch was a completely black screen.
- zoidb 3y agoThe best and most nostalgic in my opinion is the classic windows dragging effect https://www.stansgarage.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/Screen-Shot-2014-04-07-at-11.09.45-AM-768x656.png https://www.stansgarage.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/Scree...
- hahn-kev 3y agoI'd love a technical explanation about that bug, it was so fun
- moritzwarhier 3y agoIt looked like the window was just drawn at its new position on each frame, without the previously drawn object being cleared by whatever was responsible for that (compositor, window manager)... I guess it meant that some OS processes crashed while the process drawing the window being dragged was still running. I also think I remember that this often happened during Windows 98s notorious recoverable crashes, where waiting or mashing Ctrl+Alt+Del would sometimes allow one to kill the rogue program and/or explorer.exe in task Manager, sometimes not. The more I think about it: I'd love a more knowledgeable explanation too!
