Show HN: DIY Disposable Email Service Using Cloudflare
I recently discovered Cloudflare Email Routing. It's a super sweet feature within Cloudflare for creating disposable emails.
Basically, if you have a domain connected to Cloudflare - you can create email addresses like "something@yourdomain.com" that can forward emails to your primary inbox (Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail, etc.).
This is great since you'll never need to share your real email address when signing up for new online services again. It will help you keep your primary inbox free from spam and promotional junk!
However, managing my disposable emails using Cloudflare's UI is not optimal. It's slow and bulky.
So I built this minimalistic UI for managing disposable emails. This client-side app communicates directly with the Cloudflare API.
Privacy is the #1 focus with this project. Feel free to contribute or let me know if you have ideas for improvement.
Use the hosted app, x2.email (easy-to-remember domain!), or host it yourself wherever you like.
Give the repo a star if you find it useful!
- KomoD 3y ago200? If you use cf workers + wildcard you can do unlimited, I do it that way + have it auto-click any verification emails
- JesseTinell 3y agoYou're right. It's not capped. I misread the docs: https://developers.cloudflare.com/email-routing/limits https://developers.cloudflare.com/email-routing/limits Will update. Thanks for pointing that out.
- shmoogy 3y agoHow do you autoclick through verification emails ?
- KomoD 3y agoI just have a worker read the email body, do some matching to grab the link and make a request
- matthewtse 3y agoI had a similar problem, and resolved it in a simpler way. I had all *@DOMAIN.com messages forward to my main gmail inbox, which is a one-line configuration change with google DNS, so doordash@DOMAIN.com, etsy@DOMAIN.com, etc all go to my @gmail.com email address. Usually in these cases I never need to send anything from these email addresses, so it's fine to only setup the forwarding. If any of them ever became annoying, I would create a gmail filter against that specific address. How does your app, with the code+cloudflare improve upon my infrastructure-less solution? Does it allow sending from the *@DOMAIN.com addresses? Also, would be nice to have a screenshot of the app in either https://x2.email/ https://x2.email/ or https://github.com/jessetinell/x2.email https://github.com/jessetinell/x2.email so we can get a better idea of what features it allows.
