I used to write (in the 1980s) proposals to the NFS to get money for computer time on computers with a tiny fraction of the compute and storage capacity of my phone. I have a constant low-level feeling of guilt for not running stellar evolution models on my phone.
- jacquesm 3y agoHah! Similar... I pulled all kinds of tricks to be able to do real time 3D in the 80's and 90's and I would have happily murdered for the kind of capabilities that you can now carry around in your pocket. And most people seem to be utterly unaware of the kind of computing power that they take for granted.
