FedNow can't yet do requested payments. It is currently only push. I don't think it will ever have pull payments like ACH. Which means the current flow requires finding the account for recipient and put in transfer for the right amount. I heard they are working on requests, and might be possible to whitelist people to pay automatically. FedNow was only just released, it is going to take time to add support. My bank doesn't support it yet.
