As a layperson in this field, what is stopping an attacker from removing the battery and stopping the motion of the IHSM for reverse engineering?
- nullc 3y agoWhen it stops turning it reliably wipes its storage if its correctly engineered. E.g. static ram with continual debiasing and a capacitor powered circuit that fills it with garbage in its dying gasp. The idea is that tampering is turned into destruction. The attacker's goal is to get access without triggering the auto-wipe.
