- lusus_naturae 3y agoLow fat isn't great necessarily, depends on which fats. Low sugar is uniformly good though.
- myshpa 3y agoLow fat means avocados, nuts, and olive oil, in moderate amounts. The claim that "Low Sugar is Uniformly Good" is often misunderstood to indict all sources of sugar, including fruits and vegetables, which is not accurate from a nutritional standpoint. The sugar found in whole fruits and vegetables is not the same as the added sugars or refined sugars found in processed foods. Fruits and vegetables are whole foods that contain a variety of essential nutrients like vitamins, minerals, fiber, and antioxidants. - Whole Foods: fruits and veggies offer essential nutrients, unlike added or refined sugars - Fiber: the fiber in these foods slows sugar absorption, moderating blood sugar spikes, aids in digestion, and supports heart health by lowering cholesterol - Nutrient Density: fruits and veggies provide a lot of nutritional value for relatively few calories - Metabolic Health: eating fruits and vegetables is linked to better metabolic health, including improved blood sugar control, reduced blood pressure, and lower levels of blood lipids - Chronic Diseases: these foods reduce the risk of diseases like heart disease, hypertension, and certain types of cancer

- myshpa 3y ago:) A low-fat, whole-food, plant-based diet focuses on consuming natural foods primarily from plants, including: - Fruits: apples, berries, melons, etc. - Vegetables: leafy greens, bell peppers, carrots, etc. - Tubers: potatoes, sweet potatoes, etc. - Whole grains: oats, brown rice, quinoa, whole wheat, etc. - Legumes: lentils, chickpeas, beans, etc. In addition to focusing on plant-based foods, this diet also emphasizes the importance of consuming foods that are low in fat and avoiding processed foods that are high in added sugars, salt, and unhealthy fats. Benefits may include improving overall health, losing weight, and reducing the risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and certain cancers.
