Wouldn’t you expect this though? This is measuring direct user sessions. As people build on top of the API, it will displace direct usage with more customised usage. For instance, instead of going to ChatGPT and asking it to write something then copying and pasting it into a word processor, people use things like Notion that use the API behind the scenes.
- mgreg 3y agoThis is a very good point. There are many other ways to use OpenAI GPT including Bing Chat, Perplexity, Phind, You.com, to name just a few. Some of these services focus on the coding use case as well and may be more fit for purpose for that use case.
