> In the political centre, there were the conservative VVD and Christian democrat CDA, which have ideologically supported nuclear energy for a long time. Additionally, a host of far-right parties see the opposition to nuclear energy from the established progressive and left parties as a red flag, and for that reason are proponents of the technology themselves.
Conservatives and christian democrats "ideologically" support nuclear power — blindly following Jesus and Edmund Burke, rather then thinking it through from the ground up, in which case they would obviously have to come to the conclusion that we should fire up coal plants again instead.
The far right merely supports nuclear power because progressive and left parties oppose it. What about Finland? There, progressive and left parties support nuclear power. Shouldn't we expect far right parties to oppose it, then? Of course, that's not the case, the Finn's Party also supports nuclear power.
Support for nuclear power is explained away with "ideology" and contrarianism, but opposition against nuclear power is taken for granted.
