Yeah, but I don't think the people who created that RFC thought about all the bad side effects their advice causes. BGP is one of the most robust protocols out there: there's no state (as in protocol state), you can treat each message independently, you can extend it super easy and so on. And because you can treat every message independently, you can have a really secure and stable mechanism to deal with any badness that might happen.
