(shame github doesn't let you watch 404 urls!)
- PaulHoule 3y agoYeah, YOShInOn ingests enough arXiv articles that I think it should give them special processing (e.g. i have a pet peeve for cs papers <4 pages that might support a conference talk but don’t really stand alone.) The link to a GutHub archive that hasn’t been opened yet is another pet peeve, really I should queue those until the Gitahub link works although that ticket will wait itself wait in a queue for a long time.
- goldenkey 3y agoWhy not just make a simple polling script to check the github links automatically?
- PaulHoule 3y agoYOShInOn is already doing a lot of polling and waiting on message queues and making decisions and having me make a decision so anything new has to go in my own task queue since there are all kinds of features I plan to add to it. Scientific papers are begging for all kinds of special case handling. I post a lot of stories from Science X where sometimes the original paper is better than their version, sometimes it is the other way around. Whether or not the original article is open access is a big factor. They republish articles from places like "The Conversation" and frequently outrank the original and I'd rather link to the original in those cases. There are a lot of cases like that.
- goldenkey 3y agoI see. Thank you for the explanation Paul. Keep up the valuable work!
