Plant-based diets, defined in terms of varying degrees of restrictions on animal food consumption, have been associated with lower risk of cardiovascular diseases as well as an improved cardiovascular risk profile.

These findings highlight the favorable role of healthful plant-based foods in reducing cardiovascular mortality and CVD.

Eating a plant-based diet at any age may lower cardiovascular risk
- improv 3y agoIndeed, it seems like an easy problem on paper, but the problem is only growing worse. Why is that? I find it curious that the climate change issue gets far more attention than the ever increasing, far more lethal and imminently threatening epidemics of chronic disease
- mrkeen 3y agoThe key difference is: if you are concerned about your heart, you can diet and exercise better - today. Epidemiolists can and should study heart disease as a public health issue, but as a individual health issue, the solution has been discovered and is available to almost everyone.
- myshpa 3y ago> the problem is only growing worse. Why is that? We are consuming more and more of these products due to subsidies and poor policies. Our actions are leading to deforestation of rainforests, the depletion of wildlife, and a decline in biodiversity, all for the sake of our burgers. > I find it curious that the climate change issue gets far more attention than the ever increasing, far more lethal and imminently threatening epidemics of chronic disease Climate change is just a single symptom of the overshoot of the carrying capacity of the environment. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ecological_overshoot https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ecological_overshoot https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carrying_capacity https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carrying_capacity Animal agriculture is a primary driver of deforestation and biodiversity loss. Additionally, it contributes to chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease (CVD) and diabetes. Climate change and overshoot are far more lethal than CVD. They have the potential to eradicate over 75+% of all animal species, and with the helpful assistance of a nuclear state power, might even threaten our own existence. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holocene_extinction https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holocene_extinction
