- bediger4000 3y agoNo kidding? With very few exceptions, I feel like I lose services, and prices go up with every merger.
- bell-cot 3y agoThis was an all-too-familiar problem ~135 years ago - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_United_States_antitrust_law#Late_19th_century https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_United_States_antit... Perhaps our Malevolent Corporate Overlords are partly behind the recent trend of slashing or eliminating History Departments at the university level, and applying heavy "PC" filtering to what history is taught in primary and secondary schools?
- dotcoma 3y agoSo teaching about monopolies and anti-trust laws is not politically correct anymore?
- bell-cot 3y agoWith how many "pro-business" Republican state governments are getting obsessed with the HS history curriculum these days...would you expect those governments to be happy with the actual historical facts about (say) the Sherman Anti-Trust Act? Never mind the fact that Senator Sherman was an Ohio Republican, and the younger brother of famed Civil War General William T. Sherman. And with how pro-business - or at least pro-extreme-wealth - the Democratic Party has grown since the 1970's...I would not expect them to like that that bit of history, either. Even though ~every Democratic Senator of the time voted in favor of the Sherman Anti-Trust Act.
