Ask HN: Australia job opportunities on Working Holiday Visa?
In UK and have Australian working holiday visa (no permanent jobs, no jobs more than 6 months), do people please have recommendations for best ways to look for contract work?
EDIT: software work or otherwise?
- gtvwill 3y agoJust go into a pub west of the Great divide and slap down a few beers over fri-sun. You'll have a job by Monday if you chat to a few locals. Probably start up north at the moment its a bit cool for down south. Do 5 to 6 months harvest trail, you'll make bank. +1 if you come with a heavy rigid license. Do it with the right farms and it should tick your visa boxes enabling a longer stay.
- DelayedDuck 3y agoThanks, I'm in two minds whether to try to continue with software work if I'm out there or try out other stuff such as agricultural - not sure if software work is even feasible.

- richardjam73 3y agoMany companies in Australia will try and take advantage of people coming to work short term. So just be wary and do some research before travelling.
