Why Europe is a magnet for more Americans

- dougmwne 3y agoThis is a rather simplistic and politically motivated perspective. Europe is not the liberal promised land it’s perceived to be by US Democrats. Politics, like humor, is lost in translation. Fascism is on the rise. Domination by the ethno-religious majority is uncontroversial. Governments are bureaucratic and hog-tied by regulatory minutiae. Society is classist and insular. The barrier to crossing the continent for better pay and opportunity is high. The economy lacks innovation and dynamism. People are poorer, taxes are higher, and financial independence or early retirement is much more out of reach. The social safety net, like those beautiful old buildings, is always at risk of crumbling. The food is spectacular and the culture is top rate. The cities are incredibly livable, the vacations are long and life comes before work. And if you come with US dollars and a certain talent for keeping your blinders and rose colored glasses on, the good life, too, can be yours.
