How did you measure that?
As an European born, long term resident in the US:
* The amount of salt in American food is excessive by any metric.
* Same goes for sugar.
* Same with spices and sauces. You don't need an ungodly amount of a dozen spice mix in your meat.
* It is really, really hard to find a good loaf of bread here that does not cost $5 or more.
* Not everything needs cheese, cream, butter, or all of those.
