First off, I'm sorry your mother is going through all this and it's great that you're doing your best to support her. My one contribution is this: get her familiar with technology for blind people BEFORE it gets too bad. It is so much harder to learn after. There's a lot of good tech out there for disabilities. But a lot of it is not intuitive and it takes a while to learn.
