Many of sweng concepts taught at universities are desperately outdated; literally the only UML thing I ever wanted to use was sequence diagram. Waterfall/TDD/agile etc. all turned out to be fads that lost their substance over time, all that matters in the interviews these days is LeetCode-Hard and scalable system design, and most important, being likable/relatable. Theoretical computer science is now floating in its own cathedrals completely separated from the practice even in highly practical fields like distributed systems/algos. ML is just math.
