I’ve said this before here, but I wonder if the blockchain’s most lasting contribution will be, ironically, forcing the world’s governments’ hand to create their own form of digital, easily trackable and controllable money. Something like CBDCs always seemed inevitable, given how much more of their privacy citizens are willing to give away with each passing year. But I wonder if the crypto space has accelerated the implementation.
