My perception is that stoicism has been a buzzword on HN for the entire time I've been here (~since 2017?). The uptick in various forms of doomsaying around that time might have had something to do with it.
- AndrewKemendo 3y agoYeah some of these philosophical positions have a baseline frequency generally - biased up or down for the respective group. However, the frequency seems to be increasing, though my caveat is that this increase is cyclical - so not “new” per se, but cyclically new.
