Caching needs to be brought to the ecosystem rather than point non-solutions. While sccache is a partial solution available now from the outside, the toolchain needs adjustment internally to deduplicate work.
- epage 3y agoI've been exploring local, cross-project caching for cargo and my biggest concern is users won't get enough cache hits. With maximal versions and a arbitrary set of dependencies being updated when adding a new dependency. all projects on a system can end up in very different states.
