How is this better than `platform`, a library available in python by default?
- traman124 3y agoThe entire point of this library is to provide more granular info (individual CPU names, OS kernel versions, build numbers, etc). Platform provides some info, but I feel that making a more approachable and feature rich library for system info is important. Take this example: just the other day, I was trying to write a simple Python script for Fedora but could not find an easy way to find the Fedora version - I had to manually parse /etc/os-release. This library is supposed to alleviate problems like those and, in doing so, make checking hardware specs and OS versions easier. The other problem is that platform does not return easily parsable output. This is supposed to provide standarized output across OSes. This code is in alpha and does not have some of the features that platform has... but those features are coming soon :D
