That’s why I like my Surface Go 2: it lets me carry a real OS in a tiny tablet form factor. I take it everywhere and it has been my only travel laptop for a couple of years. I have even done local Rust development while on flights.
If only it wasn’t so frigging slow… it’d be awesome.
- j45 3y agoIts great to run linux too. The 12" Macbook is a great contender too.
- jmmv 3y agoHm, does it? I’ve been tempted to install Linux but I’ve found conflicting information online about how well it’s supported, and the small SSD doesn’t lend itself for dual booting.

- seltzered_ 3y agoFWIW, a couple good linux-running alternatives to the Surface Pro are the Asus Rog Flow Z13 and HP Elite X2 G4 (or G8).
- rtpg 3y agoYeah I recently bought an iPad because the surface is either too slow to be usable or like double the price or an iPad I just wanted a tablet with good software, and the surface is so close to being that but the Go is a disgrace. Even an instore Go 3 barely handles opening Edge. Edge!
