No opt-out of receiving transactional emails available. We will continue to send transactional emails in order to manage our relationship with you or otherwise communicate with you about services you request or inquiries you make.
- gryfft 3y ago....so what? This seems completely reasonable. If you don't want emails regarding transactions and inquiries, don't make any transactions or inquiries.
- turtleyacht 3y agoYes, it's reasonable to never expect a reply if none is initiated. On the other hand, to opt means to modify the state of the thing. Is removing the possibility with "never" fair at all, without understanding the (data) implications?
- gryfft 3y agoI don't understand what you're talking about or what you want anybody to do about it.
- turtleyacht 3y agoThe marketing verbiage stood out in this case. Typically, one's eyes gloss over it, clicking the necessary checkboxes and the submit button. I can't really say whether the text is making explicit what we all believed was implicit (and reasonable) or just anomalous copy.
- not_your_vase 3y agoSounds reasonable to me. Sounds like emails about actual actions that a reasonable person would want to be informed about, primarily initiated by the user. Imagine if they would keep charging you without even throwing an email in your general direction...
- turtleyacht 3y agoThe idea of opt-out is the email no longer exists to be sent to. Otherwise, to mention opt-out implies the data is still present in a form that cannot be optionally transformed. This sort of goes to the idea of whether email addresses are "owned." They're essentially strings--but residing in a different system, are there any associated rights to it as an identity? > keep charging you without even throwing an email It's not mandatory, I think. However, observing auto-pay at other places, an email is sent. Other sources outside of email are available though, like bank statements and invoices.
