This is, unfortunately, more frequent problem than many people think. I have seen so many contracts in the corporate world where each side wants to get as much as they can for themselves. What they should be doing instead is figuring out how to make both sides of the contract happy. They should be thinking and answering "If this contract is signed, would both sides be happy and would it result in a lasting and successful relationship?" The best strategy is to price your services right, make sure the contract is adequately serving both sides and, ideally, that both sides will be getting something from it that will make them happy to continue the relationship.
