I mean, who is declining jobs here on account of pay? I feel like there is some nuance here.
- rapsey 3y agoIf they have multiple job options of course they are declining some of them based on pay?
- DoingIsLearning 3y agoThere is no nuance. Anyone in EE working in the industry can easily transition into software (in fact most of my peers migrated to ECE before even finishing their undergraduate, as soon as they understood the work prospects). I love hardware and DeepTech but why would I make 3x to 4x times less with little to no chance of remote work from home in uncomfortable clean room/ESD gear. To quote Ray Liotta this is the proverbial "Fuck you, pay me" situation.
- mint2 3y agoSame with my ChemE degree didn’t want to work for oil companies, best alternative was switch to data stuff. Pay and work location/conditions did not make sense otherwise.
- mixmastamyk 3y agoHousing is a supply shortage. There are ~300 million workers in NA, many can be wooed with high pay.
