Yep. I tried to make a test account on Twitter/X to use the the API integration with, and dear lord it was a nightmare. Loads of captchas, the requirement to use a mobile number to sign up at all, and quite a few other issues I can't remember. Forget about getting out of the walled garden, even getting in is painful if you're a late adopter or need extra accounts for whatever reason.
