Blender, the open source 3D software, got their Instagram account (300k+ followers) suspended by Instagram, with no warning, no explanations.
Blender staff wonders whether they should start a new account from scratch, or just give up that platform.
- lapcat 3y agoIt should be noted that this was stated at the 59 minute mark of an hour long video. By the way, my own brand new Instagram account was also suspended today: https://lapcatsoftware.com/articles/2023/8/4.html https://lapcatsoftware.com/articles/2023/8/4.html
- me_bx 3y agoIndeed! It looks like hackerNews strips down the query parameters from the links. reattempt to post the URL to the relevant portion of the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjAznjNp4Z8&t=3548s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjAznjNp4Z8&t=3548s
- jonny_eh 3y agoYours works. I wonder what the difference was.
- dbetteridge 3y agoHN link is missing the '&t=XXX' timestamp
- jonny_eh 3y agoThey said the timestamp was stripped, so we can't see what was actually submitted.
- evolve2k 3y agoBlender have enough clout that I think they should go all in on the fediverse, and focus on active accounts in mastodon, pixelfed etc. Blender is a bit of a gateway FOSS product and has a good opportunity to use this to encourage further FOSS adoption.
- rapnie 3y agoBlender may consider spinning up their own open-source Pixelfed instance. Move from Instagram. In case their account is reinstated.. Pixelfed has an Insta import/migration feature.
