Which country do you live in? We had ours two years ago, and my girlfriend was able to choose. We choose to have it in the hospital as if there is something bad happening, the reaction time is much faster than at home (or other clinics/birth houses). The hospital we choose, has Swimmingpool/Bads but we just ended in a room full of devices to even have the baby in a situp position. After delivery we needed to share the room though. Even that was a nice experience (we were lucky with the other family). In third world countries they do what you say, and the mortality rate is higher.
