In 2015, I realized the best work I'd done for my current employer was already 2-3 years old and I didn't see anything topping it in the next 2-3 years. So in 2-3 years I'd probably be telling interviewers about projects that were 5+ years old and that felt like an uncompelling story to tell. I figured the risk of leaving a cushy job was higher in the short-term but would be beneficial long-term.
