Show HN: Make sense of all your files, links and messages in the cloud
Hello everyone!
Like most of you, we also use a lot of tools and have all our files, links and messages scattered over all those different tools in the cloud.
Which often leads to not knowing where that one file is that you need.
At best this means you waste 5 minutes looking for a file or link and at worst it means that valuable knowledge gets lost in a company.
That’s why we created a place for you to connect all your tools, organize your files, and allow you to search across all your apps.
Right now, you can connect up to 8 different tools, but there are a lot more to come!
Give it a try and let me know your feedback!
- chillbill 3y agoI’ve seen many projects come up recently that supposedly help user understand their files, bookmarks, history, etc… I’m here to remind everyone that probably 90% of personal files you have around your computer are crap screenshots that you forgot about, leftover downloads, random archived packages… the other 10% are things you already know about.
- derkthejerk 3y agoThat is why we focus on files you use for work and try to bring files and information to the forefront that gives you all the information you need. Let me give you two examples of how we are different from : 1) Someone posts a link to a competitor's website in Slack, with Sense I then get to see all the other conversations that have been had on Slack about that link and which files also include that link or are "related" to that link. 2) Many projects have all the required information in a combination of Jira tickets, Miro boards, Google docs, and emails. With Sense I can easily get them altogether into one space and have them at top of my fingertips. Do you think that is different from the other projects you have seen?
- warrenm 3y agoBuddy of mine had a startup a few years ago that tried to do this Neat concept But I can do that already just with local search on a computer that has OneDrive, Nextcloud, Dropbox, Slack, Teams, etc installed Honest question: How is this tool any better than just using Spotlight on my Mac?
- derkthejerk 3y agoSpotlight is a great tool for search once you know the name of a file, but it doesn't go beyond that. That's what we are trying to do. We want you to be able to organise files in one place, regardless of which tool they were created in, whether you know the name of the file or not and show you all the necessary information about them whenever you need it. We allow you to find files based on who sent them to you, tell you which discussions were had about which url, and which files or emails are relevant to get more information about one of your documents.
- warrenm 3y agoSpotlight'll search inside files, too As does Windows search I'm all for great new tools ... but I still don't see what you're adding over native functionality?
