Are you joking or seriously unable to imagine a use case for a translator app? Maybe to translate one's voice from one language in to the other???
Are you named like that because your brain is powered by an early llm?
- ChatGTP 3y agoWhat is the use case you have in mind, genius? Obviously the translation might be useful, but why should it try sound like my voice ? I'd personally prefer it to sound like...a translator (which is what it is) so people actually know that I'm using one, not pretending that I speak 100 languages?
- mptest 3y ago>What is the use case you have in mind Literally any time/where I would use a translate app that speaks the target language???? Personally, like you, I don't care if it sounds like my voice, but is it really hard to imagine someone who might? Are you "pretending" to speak other languages when you communicate across any translation layer? Could help one learn what their voice might sound like in a language or maybe on discord there's a layer so we can all hop in to any language discord, speak, and everyone hears us in their native language. No more robotic translator voice or whatever friction exists as is.
- hidelooktropic 3y agoI am also not getting what the mystery is here. Why should we expect a terrific degree of accuracy on what our personal accent would sound like if we took a different course in life and actually learned that language so well we spoke like a native speaker? Isn't this technology sophisticated and impressive enough that we can speak into it and get our own voice speaking that language as a native speaker would based on our vocal patterns? That has tremendous utility.
