My biased delineation engineering and everything else is whether you have to develop structure in the real world. Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering definitely meet this criterion but Software Engineers rarely have to deal with anything but pure abstraction. It's like calling a Mathematician an Engineer IMO. At the same time the term is SWE so I'll go with it.
