G definitely doesn't only hire on LC style interviews. It's just a component of it. I also don't think most people are slacking at G. I'd assume most people put in 40 hours a week, many 45 or more, and some maybe in the 30. This is just a bad manager. Likely this person would have been PIPed after the next review cycle. G is slow to get rid of bad people, but unless you have a a bad manager, it'll happen if you're only doing one thing a week.
