- JellyBeanThief 3y agoA call to general action is the same as no call to action. "We" and "changes" are so vague that they diffuse responsibility to everyone, and therefore no one. It feels good, and nothing happens. I'd like to encourage people to get organized with people in their own communities. Doesn't matter all that much what you focus on, so long as its constructive. But you have got to become active about something that matters to you, and organize with like-minded people. Reading articles and writing comments about them online changes nothing. Get in the habit of catching yourself writing an opinion, saying "I'm only wasting my time", and turning to something that's more substantial. At the very, very least, encourage other people to become active.
- Kerb_ 3y ago"Get organized in your community" seems just as vague as "we need to change" when the response requires global action, in my opinion. Reading and commenting on articles is how many people process and understand the contents of the articles and fit it in to their framework when deciding what actions are "constructive" and which are "destructive". Coming to terms with the idea that our quality of life might need to lower in order to continue at all is something we all need to consider. It's not unfair to vocalize that.
