The cat has been out of the bag for a while. We need legal changes to how personal information is used after it has been acquired. It doesn't make sense any longer for it to be so easy to open lines of credit or otherwise apply stolen info.
- Joeri 3y agoOther countries have national ID cards that must be presented to get credit. If there is no universal and secure way to prove you are you then identity can always be stolen. No amount of duct taping the credit system can fix that.
- standardUser 3y agoPrinting a physical ID for everyone seems like an outdated solution. I'd sooner support biometric hardware on every connected device.
- Sohcahtoa82 3y ago> I'd sooner support biometric hardware on every connected device. Ah yes, biometrics, the password that you can't change and you leave behind everywhere you go and on everything you touch. Cloning a fingerprint is trivial. They're not secure.
- standardUser 3y agoFace and iris are additional options. I'd be shocked if there weren't more than those in production at this point. You know what's really trivial? Buying a fake ID.
