This is accurate. My director is obsessed with visible status updates aka UI changes or metrics. So anyone reporting, "fixed a 3 year old bug by refactoring old libraries, that improves maintenance" just doesn't cut it for him. And unfortunately for engineers, they have to dance to this director's negligence even if it comes at the cost of their own sanity.
