There is no consensus view of consciousness. Further, Turing machines have nothing to do with consciousness and have nothing to offer in the way of a definition of criterion for it. (And if you meant Turing test, same thing applies there.)
- akasakahakada 3y agoConsciousness and stuff is just a subset of information processing. Speaking of information processing, well, Turing machine.
- ryanklee 3y agoThat isn't even close to a consensus view. Why are you asserting something as fact, when it's simply not, and has many competing views with just as much wood behind the arrow?
- akasakahakada 3y agoStill don't see what forest you have.
- Kim_Bruning 3y agoIt's actually a pretty common line of thought that Turing machines, Lambda Calculus and/or Neural Networks give general insights into human thought/ consciousness. These are three different approaches that are mathematically equivalent. (The first two come from philosophy of mathematics, and the third is inspired on the field of biology, to wit neurophysiology. ) Lambda Calculus is associated with the first AI spring, and Neural Nets are of course associated with the current AI spring.
