Now is a good time to take a look at what Chinese citizens are doing to circumvent governmental censorship & surveillance. Refer to Trojan-gfw/V2ray/xray-core. They are well tested within an environment much more hostile than the west and should thus work just fine. For messaging, self host or use a matrix instance outside of UK jurisdiction so that Big Tech cannot secretly weaken encryption without your knowledge.

“If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear” Thus standing out from the crowd by using a traditional VPN makes you suspicious. Routing all your traffic through a single IP is also indicative of an obfuscated VPN. My current setup: Tun2socksn -> local host socks5 proxy -> multiple outbound xray instances routed through different CDNs (or not) to make traffic look “normal” Which outbound a specific IP takes is randomized and cached for 1 hour.
