Based on the last several HN topics about TikTok, I'm assuming it's a matter of time before the shills get here. I want to just put this out there as something to consider. The people of America don't deserve harm for actions that the US government did to countries in the past. TikTok is a poison to our society, using classic social media tactics of manipulating the dopaminergic system to convince the user to spend money. The word "user" has a specific meaning in the world of addiction, and it's no accident that tech chose to use this word. A lot of "Americans" are only a couple of generations removed from an immigrant. If there were a nation of just "First- and second-generation immigrants to America", they would be the [20th biggest country](https://www.worldometers.info/world-population/population-by-country/ https://www.worldometers.info/world-population/population-by...), just ahead of Thailand and behind Germany. You might think that it's okay to "hurt" the caricature of an America in your head. Fat, lazy, entitled. There's no need to go into why that's bad. But if you DO think that way, keep in mind that there are a lot of Americans who are genuinely good people and would be thankful to have you as a friend. Just thought those commenters should know that before wishing vague ill-will towards Americans.
