Kids need interactive play to learn how to interact with the world. If kids are watching TV, they’re not exercising their problem solving skills. Good to see this proved out!
- recursive 3y agoScreen time and interactive play aren't mutually exclusive. My 7 year old is really into Minecraft redstone and command block builds lately.
- myhf 3y agoToo bad this study doesn't differentiate between interactive and passive "screen time".
- Terr_ 3y agoYeah, didn't people realize this back when comparing decades of traditional television to computer games? It's disappointing--and kinda fishy--when they still get lumped together.
- in_cahoots 3y agoWhat sort of interactive screen time do you think a 6-month old does?
- spondylosaurus 3y agoI'd be shocked if six-month-olds even recognize objects on a screen as anything more than abstract shapes/sounds tbh. A baby that age can recognize their mom, but would they recognize a picture or video of their mom?
