- eru 3y agoPart of the problem is that those prestigious journals only want to publish the most exciting science. And, alas, the most exciting science is more likely to be wrong and rubbish. See eg https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Publication_bias https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Publication_bias and the whole reproducibility crisis. (Though that doesn't explain why the graphics might be bad, because Nature and Science would still want polished content.)
