You think economists don't study policies and their effects on innovation from monopolies and intellectual property rights?
- yedava 3y agoI'm sure they do, but the solutions they've proposed (let the markets decide) haven't worked. Hence the assertion that these economists are arguing from academic theories and not from real world data. Not to mention that those theories hide ugly premises like "older people are worthless".
- RandomLensman 3y agoI don't think that "let the market decide" is reflective of the current discussion, nor would research be just based on theories instead of data. Just as one example look at the work of Daron Acemoglu.
