CYP19A1 mediates severe SARS-CoV-2 disease outcome in males
- _Microft 3y agoHere's an attempt at summarizing the abstract in normal language: It was observed that men with severe cases of COVID-19 were more likely to have lower testosterone levels. The researchers here discovered a mechanism that explains these lower levels of testosterone by showing that it is caused by higher levels of CYP19A1/"aromatase" [0] that converts testosterone to estradiol. They also find that these higher levels seem to be caused by a genetic mutation. Treating hamsters with a clinically approved drug that inhibits CYP19A1 improved lung condition in male hamsters and the researches suggest that this might point to a new therapeutic strategy. - darkclouds 3y agoThere is the oestrogen-choline pathway, choline is found in the connections between neurons (brain fog), the cell wall and importantly in this example, the fluid in the alveolar which lowers the pressure for gas exchange which increases physical performance. The body did everything right for males, by up regulating aromatise to convert the testosterone to estradiol and thus increase choline. They could have also consumed lecithin, choline bitartrate, Alpha GPC or citicoline to get their choline levels up. Manganese to increase EPO levels and hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF), but then you might be accused of doping in the Tour De'France. If they wanted to get their testosterone levels up, consume more zinc or pine nuts; to inhibit aromatase eat apple skin, rosemary and sources which are high in ursolic acid. www.alibaba.com sells the cheapest ursolic acid. Aldi's sell pine nuts, and there's plenty in of roasted pine nuts in the forests currently burning across North America.
- Khelavaster 3y agoThis is ultra closely.tied together with histamine-synthesizing histidine decarboxylase, coded in the same swathe of genes as cyp19a1. The esteogen-histamine axis may strongly influence disease outcomes in males....histidine decarboxylasd is probably as at least as influential as aromataae..
